Baa Atoll

The atoll is internationally known for Hanifaru Bay, a protected marine area where seasonal concentrations of plankton attract some of the world's largest gatherings of reef manta rays. Whale sharks can also occasionally be encountered in the area. The surrounding reefs support hundreds of coral species and a rich variety of marine life, including reef fish, sea turtles, sharks, rays, and seabirds.
