Fulidhoo is a charming local island in Vaavu Atoll, known for its beautiful white-sand beaches, clear turquoise lagoon, relaxed island atmosphere, and rich Maldivian culture. Located about 56 km south of Malé, Fulidhoo offers travelers an authentic local-island experience combined with excellent snorkeling, diving, fishing, and marine-life encounters.

Fulidhoo (ފުލިދޫ) is one of the inhabited islands of Vaavu Atoll and the northernmost inhabited island in the atoll. Surrounded by a brilliant turquoise lagoon, coral reefs, and the deep blue waters of the Indian Ocean, the island combines the natural beauty of the Maldives with the peaceful character of a traditional island community. Its compact size makes it easy to explore on foot, with sandy roads, palm trees, local homes, guesthouses, cafés, beaches, and the harbour all within a short distance.
Fulidhoo is particularly attractive to travelers who want to experience the Maldives beyond large private-island resorts. Visitors can stay in locally operated guesthouses, enjoy Maldivian food, relax beside the lagoon, swim in warm tropical waters, go snorkeling, join fishing trips, visit nearby sandbanks, or simply enjoy the slower pace of island life. Fulidhoo is also associated with traditional Maldivian music and dance, giving visitors an opportunity to experience the culture and hospitality of the local community.

The surrounding waters of Vaavu Atoll are especially famous for diving. The atoll contains channels, locally called kandus, where ocean currents attract abundant marine life. Divers exploring the region may encounter reef sharks, nurse sharks, eagle rays, turtles, trevallies, schools of tropical fish, and other pelagic species. Vaavu is also well known for drift diving and memorable night-diving experiences around areas such as Alimathaa.

With its combination of uncrowded beaches, turquoise water, marine adventures and authentic Maldivian island life, Fulidhoo is an excellent destination for couples, families, divers, snorkelers, photographers, and independent travelers. It offers a peaceful alternative to the busier tourist islands while still providing access to some of Vaavu Atoll's most impressive reefs and underwater experiences.
